Fenofibrate (tab: micronized)
Indications/Uses
Cap: Treatment of hypercholesterolemia (Type IIa) & endogenous hypertriglyceridemia isolated (Type IV) or associated (Type IIb & III). Tab: Listed in Dosage.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Cap One 100 mg cap tds or one 300 mg cap daily. Maintenance: Two 100 mg cap daily. Tab Hypercholesterolemia or mixed dyslipidemia (type IIa, IIb) Adult 160 mg daily. Max: 160 mg daily. Hypertriglyceridemia (type IV & V) Initially 50-160 mg once daily; adjust dose after repeated lipid tests at 4-8 wk intervals. Max: 160 mg daily.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Cap Patients w/ hepatic or severe renal dysfunction. Tab Gallbladder disease, hypersensitivity to fenofibrate including severe skin rashes, active liver disease, primary biliary cirrhosis, unexplained persistent liver function abnormality, nursing mothers, severe renal dysfunction.
Special Precautions
Cholelithiasis, diabetes, hypothyroidism, myopathy, pancreatitis, renal impairment, serum transaminases.

Drug Interactions
Anticoagulants, HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors or other fibrates.
